Naturally rooted
Our story
Hair care that remembers where it comes from.
The name
What “La Caona” means
In the Taíno language — the people indigenous to Quisqueya, the island now shared by the Dominican Republic and Haiti — caona meant gold. It is the root of the name Anacaona, the “Golden Flower”: a poet, a leader, and one of the most revered figures in Taíno memory.
We chose the name as a tribute. Gold, to the Taíno, was not only treasure — it was the warm light of the sun, woven into ornaments and ritual. We see that same warmth in healthy, cared-for hair.
The roots
Botanical wisdom, passed down
Long before bottles and labels, the people of the island cared for their hair with what the land gave them — the seed oil of the mamey, the gel of the sábila (aloe), rich plant butters and oils blended in kitchens and passed from grandmother to granddaughter.
La Caona is built on that inheritance. We translate those time-honored botanicals into clean, modern formulas — sulfate-free, silicone-free, and cruelty-free — without losing the soul of where they came from.
